These Tortilla Wraps with Ground Beef Are a Family Favorite at Our House!

articleUseronAugust 15, 2026

These tortilla wraps with ground beef are one of those easy, satisfying meals that work perfectly for busy weeknights, casual family dinners, or even a relaxed weekend lunch. They are packed with seasoned beef, fresh vegetables, creamy toppings, and melted cheese, all wrapped inside a warm flour tortilla.

One of the best things about this recipe is how customizable it is. Everyone can build their own wrap with the toppings they like most, which makes it especially useful for families with different tastes.

Ingredients

For the ground beef filling:

  • 500g (1 lb) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder, optional
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For assembling the wraps:

  • 6–8 medium-sized flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup grated cheddar or a cheese blend
  • ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup guacamole or sliced avocado
  • Hot sauce, optional
  • Fresh cilantro, optional for garnish

Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients

Before you begin cooking, prepare all the ingredients so everything is ready when you need it. Finely chop the onion, mince the garlic, wash and shred the lettuce, dice the tomatoes, and grate the cheese.

Having all the ingredients prepared in advance makes the cooking process faster and helps prevent the beef from overcooking while you prepare the toppings.

Step 2: Cook the Ground Beef

  1. Heat one tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion and cook for about 3–4 minutes, or until it becomes soft and translucent.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, stirring constantly until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet.
  5. Break the meat apart with a wooden spoon or spatula and cook for approximately 7–8 minutes, or until completely browned and no longer pink.
  6. If there is a large amount of excess fat in the skillet, carefully drain it before adding the seasonings.

Step 3: Season the Beef

Once the ground beef is cooked, add the tomato paste, smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.

Stir everything thoroughly so the spices and tomato paste coat the meat evenly.

Allow the mixture to cook for another 3–4 minutes over medium heat. This gives the spices time to develop and helps the tomato paste blend into the beef.

If the mixture looks too dry, add a small splash of water or beef broth. You only need enough liquid to keep the filling juicy without making it watery.

The seasoned beef is delicious on its own, but the next steps are what turn it into a warm, loaded wrap with the perfect combination of textures.
