Golden milk, also known as Haldi Doodh, is a powerful drink with roots in Ayurveda that has been used for centuries to promote balance and overall well-being. This refreshing drink is rich in curcumin, a key component of turmeric, known for its powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Ingredients
1 cup (240 ml) unsweetened coconut or almond milk
1/2 teaspoon high-quality organic turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
A pinch of black pepper (necessary to increase the absorption of curcumin)
1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey
1/2 teaspoon coconut oil
Preparation instructions
Connect
In a small saucepan, whisk together milk, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, and coconut oil until smooth.
Heat it up
Place over medium-low heat and stir constantly to thoroughly mix the spices.
Cook over low heat
Simmer for 5–10 minutes. Avoid boiling to preserve flavor and nutrients.
Strain and sweeten
Remove from heat, strain into a cup and add your favorite sweetener while the drink is still warm.
Preparation method
For a creamy, coffee-infused flavor, use a handheld milk frother for 10–20 seconds after straining. This will create a smooth, frothy texture similar to a latte.
For best results, drink a turmeric latte 30–60 minutes before bed to help you relax and recover during the night.
